Room For More
We are Making Room for More at AMS North.
As the Town of Avon and Washington Township have grown, student enrollment in Avon Schools has grown, too. As a school corporation, our strategy has been to manage growth by maximizing each square foot of our school buildings, controlling costs by expanding existing schools before building new, and minimizing disruption to students, families, and employees by only making changes when necessary.
Due to growing student enrollment — we are expected to by at least 1,600 students in the next decade — the time has come to make room for more students, classrooms, offices, seats and tables in our cafeterias, systems, tech, and structures to support 21st century learners across our school corporation.
What's changing in Avon Schools?
At the beginning of the 2025-26 school year:
- all elementary schools will begin serving students in kindergarten through grade 5 (instead of our current k-4 structure),
- Avon Intermediate School East and West will be converted into k-5 elementary schools,
- Avon Middle School North and South will begin serving students in grades 6-8, and
- we will open Avon Middle School West — our third middle school— on property near the Prestwick subdivision.
All this work complements work already underway to significantly renovate and expand Avon High School.
What's changing at North?
Additional classrooms are being built on the southeast corner of our building and performing arts space is added adjacent to the main entrance. This will provide the necessary space to support students in grades 6-8. This project will be complete in time for the 2025-26 school year.
Thank you!
Thank you for supporting Avon Schools and for your patience while this project is underway.
This entire project will be completed with no increase to taxpayers or use of referendum funds.
