Avon Community School Corporation (ACSC) is committed to respecting user privacy and protecting any personal information users share with ACSC. Please find the following details pertaining to the policy below (“the Privacy Policy”).

“Personal Information” or “Personally Identifiable Information” includes the following: dates of birth, email addresses, billing and shipping addresses, phone numbers, bank account details, and social security numbers. 

This Privacy Policy discloses the practices undertaken to collect personal nonpublic information via (“the Website”).

The Website is intended to provide news and information about ACSC. ACSC will make all reasonable efforts to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of content. No part of the Website or its contents—including, but not limited to, the district or school logos—may be copied, reproduced, modified, retransmitted, distributed, published, commercially exploited, or otherwise transferred without written permission from ACSC.

By using the Website, users consent to the terms and conditions of the Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy is subject to change at any time. At the time of a material change, the date of the change will be posted on this page.

Collection of Personal Information. ACSC will only collect Personally Identifiable Information when voluntarily and knowingly submitted by a user. Some pages require registration of a username and/or password in order to be viewed. Some website functionality—such as automated email alerts—will require users to submit a name and email address. Other personal information will be transmitted to the Website when filling out online forms or applications or sending support requests to the webmaster via email.

Users’ information will be subject to the laws of the United States of America, regardless of the country from which their data originates. 

Use of Personal Information. ACSC does not collect any Personal Information unless users voluntarily provide it by sending ACSC an e-mail, participating in a survey, or completing an on-line form. Personal Information submitted will not be transferred to any non-affiliated third parties unless otherwise stated at the time of collection. When a user submits Personally Identifiable Information it is used only for the purpose stated at the time of collection.

Updating User Information. User may correct, update, or change their Personal Information, or adjust the frequency to which the user receives ACSC communications. 

Student Privacy and Consent. ACSC is committed to protecting the privacy of its students and their families. As a general policy, ACSC uses personal information and message data for internal purposes only. ACSC does not sell or rent information about users or information pertaining to individual’s information provided on the Website. ACSC will not disclose personal information or message data to third parties, without user consent, except as provided in this Privacy Policy. 

ACSC does not post the full names of students on the public pages of the Website. Images of students are used on the public pages of the Website; however, students are never identified by name in images. Where consent for use and disclosure of Personal Information is required, we will seek consent from the appropriate person. In the case of a student’s personal information, we will seek the consent from the student and/or parent depending on the circumstances and the student’s legal age and ability to understand the consequences of the proposed use and disclosure.

Cookies. Most web browsers are initially configured to accept cookies. Users may reset their web browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. Please note, that certain features of the Website might not function if user deletes or disables cookies. THE WEBSITE’S COOKIES DO NOT AND CANNOT INFILTRATE A USER’S HARD DRIVE TO COLLECT ANY INFORMATION STORES ON THE HARD DRIVE. 

Usage and Analytics. ACSC uses website statistic packages such as Google Analytics to analyze trends in how the Website is accessed and utilized. Information monitored includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, geographic location of visitors (country, city), browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, time spent on pages, and keywords to find the Website via search engines. This information is anonymous and cannot be directly linked to individual users. ACSC may use it to identify high-use or low-use areas of the Website, pinpoint problem areas of the Website, analyze broad demographic trends in our visitors, and make decisions about how to make it easier for users to locate and navigate the Website.

Links. The Website may contain links to outside websites. Please be aware that ACSC is not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites. ACSC encourages users to use caution when leaving the Website via a link to an outside website and to read the privacy statements of all websites that collect Personally Identifiable Information. Security. The Website takes every precaution to protect users' personal information. Whenever users submit personal information (such as contact or credit card information) via online forms, registration, or online purchase, that information is encrypted upon submission via the highest level of SSL (Secured Sockets Layer) available. Servers that store personally identifiable information are in a secure environment. Under no circumstances are credit card numbers permanently stored on our website servers.

However, although ACSC will take all necessary precautions to protect users’ security data; ACSC cannot guarantee that user data will be immune from malicious attack or compromise. As such, it is important for users to always exercise caution when visiting any website and understand that transmission of personal data is always at the users’ own risk. 

Non-secured Communications. Posts to discussion forums, discussion boards, comments to blogs, and Alumni Class Notes are viewable by other users. When these areas are not password protected, they may be viewable by the general public. Please be aware of this when posting Personal Information in these areas.

Third Party Service Providers. ACSC may be required, whether now or in the future, to share user data with third-party service providers for purposes including, but not limited to: website maintenance, marketing, cyber security, or any other necessity that may arise now or in the future.

Affiliate Sharing. ACSC is permitted to share user data with its affiliated entities, including other entities within ACSC. 

Compliance with Law. ACSC cooperates with government and law enforcement officials to enforce and comply with the law. Therefore, ACSC may disclose personal information, usage data, message data, and any other information about user or other individuals’ information provided on the Website, if ACSC deems it reasonably necessary to: (a) satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process (such as a subpoena or court order) or enforceable governmental request; (b) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues; or (c) protect against harm to the rights, property, or safety of the Company, its users or the public, as required or permitted by law.  

Users’ Own Data Safekeeping. As a reminder, users should carefully protect the personal information they submit on the Website, including, but not limited to: passwords, usernames, location, images, and videos. By users protecting their own information, third parties will be less likely to manipulate accounts or assume users’ identities.
