Students Experience a 'Pura Vida' Spring Break

Students Experience a 'Pura Vida' Spring Break

by Holly Barker

Susi Clark and I recently led students to Costa Rica for spring break. It was amazing!

In Spanish the phrase 'Pura Vida' translates to 'pure life'. This spring break, students from Avon and Brownsburg schools learned that in Costa Rica 'Pura Vida' is not only a common phrase, but a way of life.

Avon Spanish teachers, Susanne Clark and Holly Barker and Brownsburg science teacher, Kathryn Littig, led a group of 47 travelers from the pacific coast to the Caribbean Sea of Costa Rica. They witnessed the diverse ecosystems, abundant wildlife, and vibrant cultures of this Central American treasure. Adventure and education was abundant at every turn and these students returned with a better understanding of the world and their place in it.

Señora Clark has been leading these immerse learning experiences since 2007, and Sra. Barker has been partnering with her since 2019. Student engagement in travel-based learning enhances their understanding through real-world experiences, and the itinerary was designed in collaboration with EF Educational Tours.

Bien hecho, estudiantes!
